Laura and Justin had a beautiful wedding in late April. Laura’s vintage theme of navy and pale pink was expressed throughout her ceremony and reception. Her shoes were gray to match the groomsmen’s vests. Bridesmaids and two of the flower girls, nieces of the bride, were in navy. The other two flower girls, cousins of the groom, were in pink. The arbor was decorated with dried vintage bouquets that matched the bride’s bouquet and live pink hydrangea sways with Spanish moss and purple irises intertwined. Two large pink potted hydrangeas and two blooming rhododendron flanked the arbor. Pale pink sashes on the chairs contributed to the softness of the look. DIY navy blue painted mason jars were hung on the shepherd’s hooks from raffia ties with the words “Love” written on them under the paint. Vintage bouquets just like the bride’s were in each mason jar that was later re=purposed as part of the centerpieces. A large tray, covered in chalkboard paint, was used for the “program.”
Photography was by Nichol Lancaster with some photos by Milt Hawes and Wendy Waldron.
The reception had extensive personal details. The couple was announced to their reception and had their first and last dance over their monogram in the center of the dance floor. The bride chose to have an ice cream bar for dessert. We ordered custom “spooner” mugs for the ice cream bar and to give as party favors. The couple’s name and design from their “save the date” cards was printed in pink on the navy mugs. Tiny burlap bags of Kona coffee with wooden scoops and a label with the couple’s names and “Love is Brewing” were table-top party favors. The couple also had personalized wine glasses. Wine bottles from their favorite hometown winery in Ohio were filled with mini twinkle lights as part of the centerpieces. The tables had full length navy tablecloths with burlap overlays. Gray napkins in grape wreath napkin rings and pink chair sashes finished the tables. Signs the couple had collected in pink and blue were on the mantles, ice cream bar, and behind the cake.
The Photo Booth was especially popular during the cocktail hour. The kids used props at the reception for added fun. A last dance under the twinkle lights and a sparkler send-off completed the perfect April wedding!
