Did You Know These Movies Were Filmed in Statesville, NC?

Did you know that several productions were filmed in and around Statesville, North Carolina?

My husband, Patrick Waldron, had the opportunity to work as an extra in a number of them, including Leatherheads (2008), starring George Clooney and Renée Zellweger; The Ryan White Story (1989), starring Judith Light; and A Stoning in Fulham County (1988), which featured a young Brad Pitt in one of his early roles.

Patrick said he always knew when he’d be picked as an extra. For the Amish movie, he arrived at the casting interview with the natural beard you see in the photo. They asked him to sing a solo word during an Amish prayer, Das Loblied.

I went with Patrick to nearby Blowing Rock for the casting of the movie, The Green Mile. When we left the interview, he said he knew he’d be picked, and he was. Parts of it were filmed in NC, and Patrick did get a role as “Linen Truck Driver #2.”
